At the CPA2000 conference in September, Tom Locke aired his ideas for
improving program security in multi-threaded systems through the strict
control of aliasing. This is off-topic for Java, in the sense that Java is
like many other OO languages in depending completely on aliasing. It's not
off-topic for discussions on multi-threaded programming, in which
correctness of program behaviour should be important w.r.t communication and
synchronisation between threads.
