It has already done it, many times, in our experience. In a recent 'race',
two programmers entirely new to Handel-C (and to CSP/occam),
implemented a 40K line C++ program in hardware, running at the
desired ASIC speed in an FPGA. The VHDL project started at the same
time by experts "had not even finished specifying the ASIC by the
time the programmers had finished". The company were satisfyingly
stunned, considered that they had saved a year in time to market
(where saving a month is *big* news), and then they invested a
large amount of cash in my company (which satisfied us!)
Some of that Industrial Success is already being enjoyed.
Watch this space!
Cheers,
